The folk art Warli on our home walls..

It's been a year we shifted to our new abode and we came across these two patches which were formed on outer walls of our entrance. They were formed as we had removed windows, and this did not go well with the original texture of the wall. And as usual we were tired of narrating the story behind the patch who visited our home.

Our beloved friend Vasuki, told us that she wants to paint her wall with Warli paintings(Warli Paintings in Wiki). Me and Dinesh were all ears about this and wanted to know very much about this art and started researching about the same.As every young excited couple who put all their energy in decorating their abode, we too came across with lots of ideas overlapping in our mind.

One day she gave us directions about a shop called Gudi, which is a place for folk and tribal art. Also, is a place for variety of tribal paintings like Madhubani, Hastakala, Tanjore, Warli etc.Later, we visited that place with the intention of checking some ethnic dolls for our display of Dasara dolls. We also came across brass idols, Terracotta, Stone sculptures and also paintings. Once our eyes fell on these different and beautiful tribal art and paintings, the feeling was just beyond words. The paintings were so beautiful and the detailing showcased the intricate work of the artist behind each painting form. And as we came outside the shop we also saw Warli paintings, Rangoli's on compound walls which gave ethnic look and tradition. Then and there itself we thought that our search ended to cover patches on our walls.

After a long chase for three weeks for the artist, ultimately we got it done and we always kept our fingers crossed about how the paintings would come up on walls. Once they were done, watching them gave us an immense satisfaction and love for the tribal art and also to mention lots of appreciations poured from our friends  and neighbors.

Many thanks to Vasuki for implanting the idea of decorating the walls with tribal art and encouraging us.

Below are Warli paintings which came on our walls..
